Leland Robinson, 31, of Mount Vernon, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 6, on a warrant out of New Canaan for the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile, said, Lt. Jason Ferraro of the New Canaan Police.
Robinson was first arrested by New Canaan Police in October of last year when officers responded to a home for a report of a suspicious man in a driveway.
When New Canaan Police made contact with the man, later learned to be Robinson, he provided police with a fake name and date of birth and said he lived in the area.
He was arrested and charged with interfering with an officer, a misdemeanor, records show.
A follow-up investigation by the New Canaan Police investigative division found that Robinson had sexual contact with a juvenile victim on two occasions and also sent digital images and text messages to the juvenile victim of a sexual nature.
At that time, a Wanted Person bulletin was released and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Earlier this week, New Canaan Police pinned down a location where Robinson may be staying in Brooklyn and he was taken into custody by the FBI Fugitive Task Force.
New Canaan officers traveled to Manhattan on Thursday, Jan. 9 to take custody of Robinson on the warrant.
He was charged with two counts of sexual assault, enticing a minor by computer, and risk of injury to a child.
Robinson is being held on a $75,000 bond.
